Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Ingest Operator located in Chennai at Network18 Media & Investments Limited. The Ingest Operator will be responsible for managing the ingestion process of media content, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of content to production teams, monitoring technical quality, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise during the ingest process.

Key responsibilities of an ingest operator:

Receiving media content:

Accepting incoming video, audio, and other media files from diverse sources like satellite feeds, live cameras, file transfers, or digital tapes.

Format conversion:

Converting incoming media to a compatible format for the organization's storage and workflow systems.

Quality control (QC):

Monitoring the ingestion process for errors like missing frames, audio sync issues, or corrupted data, and taking corrective actions.

Metadata tagging:

Adding accurate and detailed metadata like title, description, date, time, and other relevant information to each media file.

Routing and distribution:

Directing ingested content to appropriate storage locations or downstream production workflows based on predefined rules.

Troubleshooting issues:

Identifying and resolving technical problems that arise during the ingestion process, including connectivity issues, file format errors, or equipment malfunctions.

Log maintenance:

Keeping detailed records of ingested content, including timestamps, file names, and any relevant metadata.

System monitoring:

Actively monitoring the ingest system for performance issues and alerting relevant personnel if necessary.
